The 13th
Annual Elmer Hohl Ringer Classic was held at the K-W Khaki
Club May 26 and 27. Despite the rain, the tournament continued
with all 18 classes completed by 131 pitchers. The pitchers came
from as far away as North Bay and Hanmer in the north, Ottawa,
Kingston and Québec in the east and London, Sarnia, Michigan
and New York in the southwest. As well as pitching shoes it was
a great time renewing old friendships and making new friends.
The Greenwood
Rod and Gun Club generously offered the Khaki Club the use
of their facilities when the rain threatened to cancel the Women’s
A division. This allowed the class to be played. It was only a
short drive from the Khaki Club and the women who pitched in the
A Class certainly appreciated having the use of the covered courts
at Greenwood.
During the
tournament, there was 14,523 ringers recorded and 39,148
shoes pitched over the 2 day tournament and the average
ringer percentage was 37.1%. The highest percent recorded
for the tournament was 71.16% by Steve Hohl.
