March 1, 2008 - The Horseshoe World has lost yet another dedicated man to the sport of pitching horseshoes and the fellowship that the sport creates within the competition on the courts.
On Monday February 25th, 2008, Bernie Baetz, the President of the K W Khaki Club, a long time member of Horseshoe Ontario and Michigan-Ontario Friendship Games, passed away. Beloved husband of Connie (nee Counter) for 50 years. Devoted father of Bob (Marlene Schueller), Tim (Sylvie Bournival), Dave, and Lisa Sullivan (Mike). Cherished grandfather of Caitlin, Clin, Cody, Dean, Robbie, Cassandra and Michael. Also survived by sisters, Betty Wagner (Herb) and Helen Wojcik; brother Bob Baetz (Judy) and brother-in-law, Frank Hughes. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Otto and Violet Baetz, brothers Bill and Harry and sisters Marg and Jean.

November 27, 2007 - Don't forget to renew your Horseshoe Ontario membership for 2008 before the end of the year as the price goes up to $20 starting January 1, 2008!

"We at the Hamilton Horseshoe Club are having an "APPRECIATION NIGHT FOR JEAN MARKLE" on Saturday September 22. The purpose of this night is for Jean's horseshoe friends to come out and thank her for all her years of work for horseshoes all across Canada. This lady has been selling games related items at tournaments for 40 years!!!!! That is one hell of a lot of unpaid volunteer work! We want this to be an opportunity to say Hi to Jean and THANKS. Here are the details: Appreciation Night for Jean Markle Saturday Sept. 22, 2007. Hamilton Horseshoe Club 170 Brockley Drive Hamilton Cost is $10.00 which includes supper and a band to play later. Doors open at 4:00 PM and Dinner is at 5:00 PM, Band will start at 7 or 8 PM. . IF THEY DO NOT COME FOR THE DINNER, JUST THE BAND, THERE IS NO CHARGE. For those coming to the dinner, they must call the Club and book their seat before Sept. 15. Number at the club is 1-905-561-4344. If you have any photos of Jean during her "career" which she could keep later that would be appreciated. For any questions call Moe McGregor at the Club or Betty Anne Ellis at home at 1-905-547-7814"

The computer that holds the Shoes program has now been fixed and the program is up and running. I am pleased to say that all tournament results that I have received as of this morning, July 16, have now been entered into the shoes program and a ranking update has been sent to both Horseshoe Ontario and to Canstats." June 21, 2007 - The Ontario Provincial Doubles Championships final results have been tallied and can be viewed here. June 13, 2007 - The Canadian Horseshoe Pitching Championships schedule is now available at the Horseshoe Canada website. June 7, 2007 - Here's a special note from our Statistician: "The computer that holds the horseshoe stats is experiencing some major difficulties at this time. We are working at getting this problem rectified as quickly as possible. The most current rankings were compiled on May 21, 2007. If you have any questions regarding your ranking, please contact Dawn Morse either by email, dmorse@golden.net or phone at (519)576-6739."
